A Heartbreaking Battle
Gary Sinise, widely known for his role in Forrest Gump, shared the devastating news of his 33-year-old son’s passing on his foundation’s website and Instagram page. McCanna Anthony “Mac” Sinise fought a courageous battle against a rare form of cancer called Chordoma. The diagnosis came just three months after Mac’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Losing a Beloved Son
Despite his mother’s successful treatment, Mac’s condition deteriorated over time, leaving him physically impaired. Gary Sinise expressed his immense grief for the loss of his son, acknowledging the pain that comes with losing a loved one. He extended his sympathy to others who have suffered a similar loss.

A Fulfilling Life
Mac’s life was marked by fulfillment and passion. He proudly served alongside his father in the Lt. Dan Band as a drummer, showcasing his love for music until the very end. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries and becoming paralyzed from the waist down, Mac never stopped pursuing his passion for music. He recently completed his album, Resurrection & Revival, which Gary expressed his determination to release on vinyl.
A Farewell
Mac was laid to rest on January 5, leaving behind a legacy of strength and love. Our hearts go out to Gary Sinise and his family during this time of immense grief. Let us come together to support them and keep Mac’s memory alive.
